Our Legacy
At Kaplan, we don’t just deliver products—we build relationships. Our mission is to respond quickly, deliver accurately, and always meet your needs first.
Kaplan Industries: Your Trusted Leader in Compressed Gas Solutions
Located on a 16-acre campus in Harrison, Ohio, Kaplan Industries Inc. is a second-generation family-owned business entering its third generation. With the capacity to produce up to 3,500 cylinders at a time, we specialize in steel and aluminum cylinders that meet DOT and ISO standards, high-purity hydrocarbons for the cannabis and specialty gas industries, and total cylinder services including testing, refurbishment, and maintenance.
In 2017, we expanded into the specialty gas business with the addition of two bulk tanks—further solidifying our position as a comprehensive gas solution provider. We are proud members of IOMA, GAWDA, DEMA, ARW, and HARDI, and are ISO 9000-compliant. We also serve as trusted vendor for our government contracts.
What sets Kaplan apart is our team: five dedicated sales representatives covering all U.S. states and a highly experienced management group. With such a vast amount of industry expertise, we’re big enough to meet the needs of demanding clients—yet small enough to give each customer personalized attention.

Our Roots
Over 60 years ago, brothers Albert and Morris Kaplan founded a small surplus company in Philadelphia, supplying compressed gas cylinders and equipment to local distributors. In 1959, they established A-M Fire Equipment Company, becoming a UL-approved distributor for fire safety products. As demand grew, Kaplan Industries, Inc. was formed to expand into new and reconditioned cylinders, cryogenic equipment, and tube trailers—eventually relocating to a larger facility in Maple Shade, NJ to support its rapid growth.
By the mid-1980s, Morris Kaplan’s children, Dean and Rita, became instrumental to the company’s growth—Dean rising from an entry-level role to President in his twenties, and Rita advancing to Vice President from a Customer Service role within five years. As expansion continued, the need for a larger facility led to the 2011 acquisition of Midwest Cylinder and a move to a 16-acre site in Harrison, Ohio, which now serves as Kaplan Industries’ national headquarters.
